.A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet Donna Gates, a nutritional consultant, author and lecturer who has helped thousands of people overcome candidiasis and other immune system disorders at David Wolfe’s Longevity Conference. I was blown away by her talk and had the opportunity to meet with her after the event.

At the time we scheduled to do a phone interview so that I could share her information with you! In this interview Donna shares facts about the Body Ecology Diet and how it can help you stay young, vibrant and healthy.

donna-gatesHere’s some of what she discusses in this call:

- Why Donna developed the Body Ecology Diet and how it can help you

- Understanding the Seven Principles and how you can apply them to your life

- Fermented foods and why they’re important for your body

- How food affects your body depending on your blood type

- Two easy steps that will start you on your journey to health

- Why you should focus on your health instead of your disease

Thank you for doing this for us! I am a Type A and have been studying nutrition on my own for my whole life (56); driving my family nuts with my “weird” ideas. Could not figure our why I was always so mineral deficient even though I was regularly taking the best supplements my holistic doctor could find… hmmm.

  7. Guity says:

You mention a Thai Coconut Water from a bottle but did not mention the name of the product. Could you please confirm the company name and who carries it in the West Coast?
    Thanks,
    Guity

Find out what works for you. So true! Thank you, Alex, and thank you, Donna.

For anyone out there who has not also come across Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride, I recommend checking out her book “Gut and psychology syndrome” and the GAPS information available on internet for complementary and additional perspectives on eating for health, cleansing, etc.

  11. Ranka Sekulic says:

Great! I just have to find out what my blood type is!

  12. angie absten says:

I appreciate the information very much. After 40 years in allopathic medicine I really appreciate what is being presented. We have allowed ourselves to be poisened with govrnment intervention. I do not understand why they prefer a sick society over a healthy one?

  13. angie absten says:

I would very much like to hear or read what the evidence on autism shows. I have been convinced for a long while that it may be environmental and nutritional defecit.

  14. Tepoe Ka'aumoana says:

This is the kind of information that I can’t possibly put a price on! THANK YOU so much for sharing your knowledge. I am pregnant with my 4th child, and look forward to reading and researching more on what you have covered here.
    Sincerely, Tepoe Ka’aumoana

  15. Joel says:

Very interesting. I need to go get more material from her so I can learn some more about the details. It does seem to fill into the holes that many other ideas of eating seem to leave.
    Thanks for the interview.

  16. Isabelle says:

When Donna talks, I sit down with pen and paper and take notes. I find she talks like nobody else. My health and appearance has improved lots since eating BED style. Thank you for this good interview!

Great information about diet, health and choices that need to be made daily to create choices. Alex, you were a terrific interviewer. The bacteria life in fermented foods are our allies.

Just watched the DVD, 30 days Raw,well done! It is exciting news and I will be sharing it. It has the potential to give hope to those dealing with diabetes.

I would love to talk with you about doing work with Ceres Community Project where our mission is to restore locally grown organic food to its place as the foundation of health for people, communities and the planet. Our High School teens create free organic whole food meals for people dealing with serious illness, like cancer and heart failure.
It has been a revolutionary work for our county. The teens have made over 65,000 meals in the past three years. The community has supported the project with farm fresh organic produce, funds and volunteer activity. Our work is being duplicated in Ohio and other counties in California.
Contact me if you are interested in helping us get the word out about what we do.

    Many Blessings,
    JoEllen DeNicola
    Nutrition Director
    Ceres Community Project

  22. Kim says:

Thank you Alex for having Donna Gates as you guest. Any chance I get to listen to her interviews, I consider it is a blessing. I have been following The Body Ecology Diet for about a year now. I have to say it is an amazing diet. I am learning each and every principle in her book. MY sister and I have made so far at least 90 quarts of cultured veggies. They are amazing, I can say that I have absolutely no trouble passing up sweet treats as they do not even exist in my thoughts and when I taste something sweet that I used to eat, it is so sickening that I cannot even eat it. We also love the coconut kefir, Donna’s recipe. The Body Ecology Diet will always be a part of my life, I can’t even imagine giving up any of the principles that have learned so far.

  23. anne says:

Wonderful! Love this information! Thank you Alex for sending this again, I did not hear the first time. I think my blood type is B. I am someone who get yeast, too many antibiotics growing up. Thanks so much! ;)

  24. Sue Schaber says:

I am just beginning to concentrate on learning how to be kinder to my body. I have yoyo dieted my whole life and I have in the past year been turned on to a program that consists of a full body cellular cleanse and a superfood program but there are other issues that I have and I reasonate with a lot of information about The Raw Diet and now Donna has raised my curiosity about fermented foods. Certainly, by seeing her picture she clearly portrays a healthy individual with vitality and serenity. I look forward to learning more about her and her program. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

  25. Bonnie says:

Thank you so much Alex and Donna!!! I have been also studying nutrition for some time. I became a holistic health counselor during my quest in healing my digestive tract and have read The Body Ecology Diet, have listened to many of Donna’s interviews, as well as receive newsletters from both Alex and Donna. I love all the information that you both are sharing and find that I still am learning a “nugget of wisdom” from you!!!! There is so much to learn with respect to nutrition and lifestyle. I am Blood Type A, an athlete, a massage therapist, etc. For years, I have felt as if I were mineral deficient and had blood tests done which show that I am. I am constantly changing my diet. I thought that perhaps my job and lifestyle were basically “beating me up”. But, it just clicked, even though I have already read this in Donna’s book that type A blood are really sensitive to gluten and tend to be more acidic than other blood types. I have given up gluten here and there for short periods of time and did notice some changes, but now I am more willing then ever to become gluten free in order to stay healthy, stay young, keep exercising with a smile and to keep working without being exhausted at the end of the day and enjoy life even more. This is why it is so important to keep spreading the word because sometimes it takes a few times to hear it before making the changes necessary to feel alive! Thank you again!!!! I am truly grateful.

  26. cristina says:

Alex, thank you for your efforts and commitment to share valuable information with the public. I really enjoyed listening to this interview – many of the things Donna talks about made so much sense!
I had never heard of Donna’s books before but after listening to her I will certainly check her out! Love her approach and simple way of explaining her knowledge.
    Greetings from Costa Rica!

  27. Adele says:

Donna Gates is a great resource as my children and I try to expand our knowledge about how to be our healthiest. Thanks for sharing this interview, we like to hear her talk every chance we can. It helps us understand a little more each time.

  28. Mitzi Harden says:

I so appreciate the heart of Donna Gates. She is amazingly intelligent and so very approachable. Thank you Donna. I always believed that my life didn’t have to “go down hill after 40″ but Donna through Body Ecology is the only person I have found to explain why and what I can do about it!

  29. Veronica says:

Fantastic! I’m jumping on this bandwagon. Thank you Alex, first you bring “Raw life” into my family’s life. And now Donna. Thank you! I’m blood type A- and this year I changed diet to Vegan, dropped all juice, chocolate and wheat and now incorporating many more raw foods after watching some videos from the raw community and studying about food. I also got into Bragg products, including organic apple cider vinegar, I read a great book, Suicide by Sugar, so we got rid of most sugars. This all happened this year. The results: I have literally shed all pregnancy weight, skin is glowing, I’m physically younger and have more energy than I have in forever. No congestion, battled yeast infection for 4 years and it’s been gone through change in diet. I can’t wait to get my hands on Donna’s program to see just how much better myself and infant daughter can become. The statements about our blood types (A) having difficulty with digestion, having low acid, etc. really have my interest!

  30. LARRY GERMAIN says:

REALLY ENJOYED HEARING NEW THINGS FROM DONNA AND DAVE. THIS IS MY FIRST HEARING AND PLAN ON READING MORE AND MORE.PEACE.

  31. Terry says:

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am a type O. I have felt awful for the last 10 years. I have a terrible candida infection on the outside of the skin. I have high colestrol and high blood pressure. My metabolism has just stopped. I haven’t been able to lose any weight for a long time. You gave me so much important information that I have been searching for. Terry

  32. Sylvie Pajot says:

I appreciate the interview, but I found Donna’s first principle contradictory. She says there is not right or wrong and we have to find what works for our body and then she gives the example of the person who gets cancer and turns to a vegan diet to heal and then goes back to their ways. Would they not have had cancer in the first place if their previous diet was good for them? I just watched Food Matters last night, and someone states that a healthy body CAN NOT get cancer. I think this makes sense. I am new to all this and I am not saying that everyone should be a vegan (I have not stopped eating meat yet), but it seems logical that if a vegan diet is the proper diet for a person with cancer, it would be the right diet for anyone!

  33. carmen d scrimalli says:

posted donna on my facebook-she has a way of presenting information-reaches familiar ground-appeals with common sense language-appreciate you bringing her to the forfront-this is good stuff-scary ,if we let ourself get out of control=also, following the program can cover a range of illnesses-will spread the word

  34. Fran says:

Hi I am having trouble accessing the Donna Gates interview. Can you please let me know where to find the link on your site as I would really love to listen to the interview. THankyou.
