One of the questions that I get all the time is how do you stay raw. So I wanted to show you EXACTLY what myself and my wife do every morning to get going with our raw food for the day…
I put together a candid video for you that I literally filmed right after my morning workout. You’ll see that I’m still in my exercise clothing!
But I wanted you to see what I do every day and show you the simple smoothies and juices that we typically make in the mornings.
You’ll see the video below.
I hope you enjoy the video. Make sure to leave me your feedback!

Hey Alex, wife, baby, and doggy ;o)
.
Thanks a million for theese videos !! I am totally new in the eating raw food world…I have bought David Wolfes “Weight Loss & Peak Performance” online and I am planning on studying everything I possibly can on raw food, and then start the 21 day program in june, – hopefully I will then continue !
But I am going to start tomorrow morning with the green juice, that you showed us, as I allready have those ingredients
Thanks again !

Great videos, Alex.
I’m in the process of “turning green” to 80% of my diet. I just did a 10 day cleans program with nothing but raw greens, and the result was convincing. What really worked for me about your videos is that I see a strong, healthy male with good muscle tone (good to know you also life weights as I do) doing the raw green diet. The myth for me has always been (still at times) that the two don’t go together. Now, I am encouraged.
Appreciate all your good work!

I have the movie, simply raw, and I love it and would love to go raw but how does one start this? I will be away from home for 3 1/2 months also, how do i eat raw away from home or when dining out with friends and family? I have a juicer and a blender but no food processer. I also would love to watch a video on how your wife feeds your adorable baby. I will be a grandmom in July and would love to show my daughter! When you say you are 80 to 90% raw, what do you eat that isn’t raw? I am a cancer survivor (sarcoma), I have high blood pressure, I get checked every 4 months for glaucoma (my eye pressure is high), I have adult acne, arthritis, need to lose about 50 pounds, and more, all this and I will only be 51 this year. So many questions, please help. Oh does the sugar in fermented foods, kim chee for example, have any negative effect on us? Thanks so very much!

Thanks so much for sharing those smoothie recipes. It is so encouraging to see a family making a raw food diet and healthy lifestyle work. Can you tell me where I can purchase the Sun Warrior Protein and the Maca? Also, is it possible to just put all the ingredients in the Vita Mix and make the green smoothie?
Best to you and your family,

Alex,
I just watched your video clips and have a question about juicing spinach and cucumbers. We usually just throw it in the vitamix (well, the cucumbers we chop very small) with oranges, strawberries, or whatever we want. What difference is there between using a juicer and vitamix when it comes to
spinach and cucumbers? I have used the vitamix for herbs and lettuce as well as other veggies: carrots, peppers, squashes, etc… What benefit does a juicer have over a vitamix?
Thank you for sharing your morning routine.
In Peace,
Shannon

Great video! I love the fact that Malachi likes it….
I give my 14-month old grandson Josiah my green smoothies I make everyday and he also loves it. I’m the only one in my household/family & extended families who is into raw food and I absolutely know the huge benefits I reap from it. I’m trying to get my family to do this but so far only my sister is sold & is trying to do it. She started making celery & cucumber juice for her husband and after 4 months on it, his blood pressure (he had hypertension & was on meds) had dropped in a huge way —- first time ever in the 14yrs they’ve been married – - Wohooo! It’s in the GREENS!

This is very good demonstration. Breakfast was the hardest thing for me to change and now I cannot go without the juice or smoothies. But I am wondering what is the rest of the day like…when do you eat next and what? I typically work on 40 oz or more all morning…amd then move on to salad. If I do take everything I need for the work day, then I have problems…if I get overly hungry before I get home. I work noon until 9 or 10 at night. This takes planning and prep. Still trying to make it all work without falling into coffee and bagels and other available ’stuff’.
And then there is traveling…aarg!
Thanks so much!

Hi Alex,
Thank you for sharing your morning routine and family. This was most helpful toward my goal of being 50% raw by June. I started in Feb. and was getting a little complacent about it. Your video was just the boost I needed. New recipes and inspiration. I too am curious, what benefit does a juicer have over a vitamix?

Great video! I was very happy when I heard you say that you and your wife are doing P90X. I have been raw since January and am loving it. I have done P90X several times, I am in my recovery week of phase one and I have been 100% raw. I became a certified personal training in December of 2009 and I wanted to see if you can be 100% raw and do an extreme workout like P90X and build muscle! So far so good!!! I really wanted to break the myth about having to eat animal protein in order to gain muscle. I must say that I have had to really rethink how I think about fitness and nutrition. I have always been a lean protein kinda person, boy was I wrong! I love, love, love the Sun Warrior protein. I just ordered BOKU protein because I heard great things about that also. It is funny because I have a smoothie in the morning as well. I use homemade almond milk, spiralina, sun warrior and sometimes a banana. Thanks for the video!

I got your DVD smiply raw and raw for life before your promo. I was hoping that getting them would help me get off of my shorts for Diabbetes. In the simply raw film, I saw that if you go raw you can get off of the drugs, but you don’t show how it is done. I would like to stop being a drug addict. I hate to take shorts or pills and was hoping that your films would show me the way to a better life. So if there is a place or a book or a DVD that will give me what you say is true in the film. I would like to have that help if you would be so kind to give me. Thank YOU in advance.

Morning smoothies have been my routine over the years, but not every day. As a diabetic I should probably do the green drink verses the fruit drink with sea moss, fresh strawberries, banana, dates and coconut. Thanks for bringing your green drink to my attention. But how long does that meal sustain a diabetic without feeling light in the head?

Dear All,
Thanks for the great video! It does look easy. Question: I know the juicer seperates the pulp from the juice. However it also seperates the skin. I thought the outer skin of the vegetable had a great deal of nutrients. If so, why would we let that go?
I have ordered the package and once I receive it I will start on my 30 day raw adventure.
Thanks for sharing your routeen, it helps me understand where to start. I certainly am looking forward to doing this.
One more question. I am hypoglycemic. Will the protine power be enough to keep my blood level balanced?

Hi Alex, Karen and Malakai,
I just placed an order for your books last night, with the special deal you are offering – thank you!
Also, thank you for putting me on your mailing list and showing your videos. This is great!
I am in the beginning stages of transforming my food and eating habits. I’ve taken on green smoothies, where I mix a lot of greens from the garden with fruit like pineapple, banana, apple, pawpaw (as we call papaya here), and I also put in Macca and even half a teaspoon of organic raw cocoa powder (I don’t like the taste of the macca, and the cocoa contains protein and minerals, I believe). Sometimes I also put in ground up LSAP (almonds, sunflower seeds, papitas and linseeds). That does feel too heavy, though, so I’m now starting to put the ground up seeds in a second smaller smoothie later in the day.
The hardest thing I find is managing this around work, especially with the greens picked fresh and then washing them. When I don’t eat well because I’m rushing, that’s when the old habits can creep back in.
I’ve started a blog to support me and others in taking this on. I’ve called it the Three Day Program, because I believe that we can turn our health around in three days of great eating.
I’ll give a reference to you on my blog.
Thanks for your wonderful work! and I’m really looking forward to getting the material in the mail!
love and best wishes

Great video. Doesn’t it feel great to feed a child healthy raw juices and they love it?! My 2 year old daughter loves raw juices. What a great way to keep the immune system strong and healthy! I love how you use a variety of vegetables. When I juice, I usually use like 2 vegetables, but I’m gonna try the blend you used.
Blessings to your family and a big high five to your wife for making all that great homemade baby food. I made my daughter homemade baby purees and she loved them. Great stuff! Thanks for sharing! Best of luck with P90X!!!!

It always pleases me to see young people starting their day out with raw food smoothies. My husband and I have done so for 15 years now and just can’t face the day any other way. I will add that I am a former registered nurse and now an advisor for an organic food store – helping people get off their medications safely. I am 65 and my husband (a retired teacher) is 80. We have been married for 46 years and no one believes any of those numbers pertain to us! We have not needed medications in all that time and I know it is because of the mostly raw food diet. So, to all you “youngsters” – no matter how old you are – a raw food diet gives everyone a superior quality of life.

Although I’m encouraged by what was demonstrated in your video, it brought several questions to mind.
How can we be sure that the raw foods/plants are clean and SAFE?
How do we know they are free from dangerous poisons, pesticides, herbicides, the wax coating preservatives, and generally are grown in clean conditions without exposure to contaminants like dirty watering, E Coli, Botulism, Salmonella, etc.?
This is especially a concern now, as there have been many scares about contaminated produce; green onions, lettuce, etc. This even happened at major restaurant and food store chains. How can we be assured we’re not making unsafe raw smoothies?
Having just ordered the special Raw Food Combo deal, I plan to get going by May 1 or shortly thereafter; when I receive and review the combo package. Personally, I need to get out from under the Type II Diabetes cloud before more serious issues become manifest. I anticipate dropping much girth as well…even though I play Santa. My wife is also trying to get more healthy and lose weight as well.
Thank you for the exemplary video encouragement and illustrating the engagement utilizing your attractive family.

I have been told by several authors of raw food that you should not eat green peppers as they are an imature fruit? however I raise peppers in my garden and they will never turn a color, they are made to be green??? so I am wondering what is the answer? I see you put green peppers in your juicer. what is the answer? thank you for your encouragement in our life style change. Linda

Very good video; thank you for opening up your kitchen so we could observe your family’s morning meal routine. I’m encouraged now to use my Champion juicer more at breakfast, to get beyond my more usual Vita-mixer smoothies, yummy though they are! I often make more than enough for one meal, so I’ve got a smoothie mix ready for a between-meals snack. (I thrive on small, frequent meals; for me, soaked nuts/seeds or raw nut butters are handy snacks to eat with smoothies or juices, or to mix with with them.)

Hi Alex, great video! my question is where i live in london , i only have access to supermarket produce, the majority of which is conventional. Do you recommend eating this raw? Also what do you eat for lunch and dinner on atypical day? How do you sustain your hunger and avoid being tempted back into bagels and snack foods?
take care!

What do you do with the pulp left over after juicing? Looks like a lot of good food there that could be used for something.
What flavour does the maca add? I recall trying it once and found it very overpowering in anything I added it to.
Very interesting – thanks!

Watching Malachi drink his green smoothie reminds me of my sons at that age – between the green juice and the wheat grass each had a “green mustache” until they were three!
Definitely better than the milk mustache!

hi alex and wonderful family, thanks for great video-I’m a real fan of yours from Bermuda- eat quite a bit raw and was really moved when I saw how many people showed up for the showing of you great film “Raw for 30″. There are lots of people in Bermuda that suffer diabetes, etc. Keep up the great work!! K
Comment by Kathryn — April 28, 2010 @ 11:52 am
I’ve been thinking about doing this for years. It just seems like that’s the way we’re SUPPOSED to eat, but seems/feels like you would be stepping out on the edge of normalcy. It’s always bugged me to see people eat like this, and it’s taking me this long to “see the light.” I’ve been a McEater all my life, if you get my drift.
I’m going to try 30 days of RAW to see if I can make it and what will happen to my body, energy, skin, hair, etc. Maybe I’m expecting too much, but I’m going to give it a try. I’m not a religious person by any means, but I keep thinking this is the way it was intended that we feed ourselves. No matter who authored this universe, certain things are now seeming obvious to me about what has been provided for us to survive here in our little corner of the Milky Way.
Thanks for showing us how it’s done. I see I have a lot to learn, but am anxious to see what RAW Foods will do to help me lose the 65 lbs. that I need to lose.

Thank you for the video. It is good to have a face now to go with the frequent e-mails from you. Many questions in the comments section. I hope you answer them as that will help us all. I started transitioning to raw foods a year and a half ago. About a year ago I attended a lecture by Victoria Butyenko and have had a green smoothie just about every morning for breakfast since. I put eight cups of corsley chopped or torn fresh raw organic greens plus fruit in each smoothie and share it half and half with my husband. It took my body some time to adjust to the increased fiber in the raw diet but now I can eat any of it. I gradually moved up from 50% to 80 and 90% and now, for the last two months I have been 100% raw. I am 68 years old and have been on Thyroid medication for 18 years. I was told by the Endocrinologist that my thyroid was “dead” and I would be on the meds for life. I accepted that at the time. However, in the six months that I have gone more and more raw my thyroid med has been DECREASED twice!! My bloodwork has been great except that my B12 is low normal….so I have recently started Vitamin Code which is a supposed to be raw. I was interested to see that you use Sun Warrior Protein. So far, I have been thinking that I should be able to get what I need from food, except for B12. My biggest question for you is WHAT IS THE OTHER NON RAW 20% OF YOUR DIET????
Comment by Dhanya Wallbank — April 28, 2010 @ 3:13 pm
Hi,
I watched your morning video’s, making juice and smoothies.
I just wondered why you go through all that trouble of juicing, when the bi-product is so full of good fibers, and as a smoothie, using ALL of the vegetables, I would think it is more valuable for the body? It seems such a waste to throw that away. P.s. cute kiddo, lucky kiddo too having parents that give him healthy food. Greetings from Norway. Maria
Comment by Maria Eikeland — April 28, 2010 @ 4:26 pm
What do you do with all of that wonderful fiber in the waste bowl? I love to eat a lot of raw; but would miss chewing the fiberous parts of the celery, peppers, tomatoes & cucumbers……

Namaste Family,
I ordered the Raw for 30 days and Simply Raw videos about three weeks ago off your brother’s tapping site. I am still waiting to recieve it which should be soon. I followed the thread and started the 30 day green drink challenge immediately and won’t go back, only after one week!
I have experienced many changes which I wont’ go into here, but just this morning I took another BIG metal madallion off my belt.. ha, ha, I’m loving it!
The puffiness under my eyes is dimenishing too – something I’ve had all my life, no matter what I eat.
I am living in South Korea and am working with what I have available here and doing it all with a blender. My energy is up, on all levels, and I feel so much lighter!
Thanks for getting this information out to the masses!
Comment by Mahara Renay — April 28, 2010 @ 7:30 pm
I got Raw for 30 days & the 2 DVD set about raw food last year. Wonderful information on both. I look at them again every now and then. I am about 95 percent raw and am not having any problems but I was not a heavy meat/Dairy/sugar eater to begin with.
My husband likes to eat out so once a week I eat cooked veges where ever he chooses to go. I took some advice from David Wolfe and began adding to his diet some superfood things in a morning drink. Without saying a word after 30 years of trying to get him to change his eating habits, he has done some major changing. He is not a vegetarian but he no longer brings meat/dairy into the house. He limits his intake of these foods to when he eats out. He is now eating two salads a day, real fruit instead of canned fruit, sprouts, nuts instead of candy at night and whole grain ceral that I soak over night. He was eating ice cream every day, now he is content to go get an ice cream at the local stand a few times a summer. So it does work, if you simply begin putting the right things in, your craving for the wrong things subsides. As he began to feel better, he made more changes, ON HIS OWN.
We are not able to eat all organic food. Here in Vermont the price of organic is at least 2x as much, often even higher. I am going back to gardening as even the farmers markets here are higher then the produce stores. Could be just my local, I am in a college area. So I do what I can, make improvements as I can and don’t worry about what I can’t do.
Loved your video’s. Keep them coming.

What is the name of the raw protein powder you use in your smoothies?
Many thanks, Robin

The videos and comments were very helpful. I have been making green smoothies 2-3 times weekly for about 8 years. I have been struggling with type 2 diabetes for about 10 years so on Jan 1 this year I made a serious intention to increase my raw food meals to approximately 80%. After watching Raw for Life in mid February I decided on March 3 to discontinue taking my diabetic medication (Metformin). I have eaten raw meals about 80-90%. However I find myself struggling more now than I did a month ago. Since I have greatly restricted my fruits and carrots, my green smoothies are no longer tasty. My meals are mostly green smoothies and juices, nuts and seeds, cooked beans and vegetables (about 3-4 times a week. I eat far too many nuts and want to snack on them all time once I have my first meal around noon. My glucose readings are mostly around 100 with a few in the 80’s and some around 110. This is as good or better than when I was on the medication. My questions are:
Does anyone have any good tasting no-fruit green smoothie?
What can I use to snack on that is crunchy and tasty besides nuts that will not elevate glucose levels? Something like a cracker (smile)?
I have learned a lot from your comments. Thanks for sharing!

Alex, thanks for that. Now it takes awhile to prepare all that so can you make ahead and refrigerate, or does the green juice lose potency if stored for a couple of days?
Looks like a need a juicer.
